Course objectives:

At the end of the course delegates will,

·         Have read and be aware of RCSLT policy statement on FEES

·         Have observed FEES examination on 2 normal subjects

·         Have understanding and awareness of the anatomy and physiology observed during a FEES examination.

·         Have an understanding and awareness of the components used within a FEES assessment.

·         Have observed previously recorded FEES examinations

·         Have rated FEES examinations

·         Have written a report of a FEES assessment and been provided with a report template.

·         Have observed FEES videos of dysphagic clients carrying out manoeuvres.

·         Have cleaned a scope and achieved a certificate of competence using Tristel

·         Have understanding of governance issues including:

o        Consent

o        Health and safety requirements when using FEES

o        Confidentiality and data storage

o        Equipment safety and maintenance

o        Policies and guidelines on FEES

o        Cleaning and infection control.
