·        Anatomy and physiology of swallowing

·        Mechanisms of ventilation

·        Medical factors and syndromes associated with dysphagia

·        Assessment including Differentiation between screening and diagnostic assessment.

·        Available assessments for the clinician

·        Practical assessment exercises. ( there will be differences drawn between the paediatric and ALD client groups.

·        Principles underlying dysphagia intervention.

·        Classification of dysphagia;

·        Management options.

·        Modifying the risk of aspiration.

·        Compensatory techniques

·        Therapeutic techniques for drinking chewing

·        Therapy tools

·        Management of sensory feeding disorders

·        Academic background for sensory feeding disorder

·        Management techniques and therapy interventions including practical activities;
