The course team will apply these marking criteria to the self directed learning programme, the delegates completed questionnaire and the supervisors’ questionnaire in order to determine whether the delegate passes or fails the course. All submissions will be double marked. These will then be passed to the external examiner for moderation.

Fail
- Delegate is not yet consistently working independently in the field of dysphagia.
- The delegate is not yet consistently displaying consistent evidence based practice.
- The delegate is not yet consistently demonstrating transference of knowledge and skill gained from the course into the workplace.
- The delegate is not yet consistently able to devise, implement and evaluate a therapeutic programme.
- The delegate is not yet consistently able to share knowledge and skills with others.
- The delegate has not been able to change their own clinical practice.

Pass
- The delegate is consistently able to manage cases independently.
- There is evidence of change in the delegates activity and performance following the course.
- There is evidence of the delegate consistently sharing knowledge and skills with others.
- There is evidence of CPD activity.
- The delegate demonstrates reflective practice.

Merit
- There is evidence of a consistently high critical and analytical approach to the delegates’ dysphagic caseload.
- There is evidence of a wide range of additional learning, independent or externally sourced.
- There is evidence that the delegate is using their knowledge and skills to enhance clinical practice.
- There is evidence of the delegate taking an active role in transferring knowledge and skills gained to a wide range of other people.

Distinction
· In addition to the above the delegate demonstrates consistently highly innovative practice.
Candidates who fail to pass the course will be provided with feedback regarding why their submission has not made the necessary standard.
Candidates who fail to meet the standards to pass the course will be invited to submit a case study of 1,000 words. They will have 6 weeks to complete this work.
